A lot of activity in the garden last night. Mrs Hog was in for food at 9.55pm. She was happily eating as much as possible for over an hour. She left to go wandering about 11.45pm. Shortly after 12.30am the first fox arrived and this was Freda. I've noticed that she has a white tip to the very end of her tail whereas her mate, Fred has only dark fur. Freda was in and out for food most of the night. She was not scent marking as much last night so thankfully my food bowls did not smell as much this morning.
Just before 2pm a large male Hedgehog came into the garden for food. He is a regular and will go into the hog house for food. Mrs Hog won't do this. He was in the hog house when Freda turned up for more food. Just as he came out Fred arrived as well plus a black and white cat. So for 5 minutes I had two foxes, one hedgehog and a cat all within feet of each other. The cat left quickly but the hedgehog stayed put and went into defensive mode by curling up into a ball. The foxes completely ignore the hog and once they had left he went back into the hog house for more food.
Still no sign of Hoppy and Mrs Hog didn't come back into the garden as far as I am aware. As I started recording early the DVD stopped at just before 4am.
This morning my Magpie was down at the front door for worms along with the baby Blackbird. The birds are still eating large amounts of food each day. All the feeders are empty by the time I get home from work. I'm hoping that the natural autumn food will start to appear soon. Certainly I am now seeing purple bird poo so they are beginning to eat the Blackberries.
